Weekly Photo Challenge – Nana Nostalgia

My beautiful Nana in response to this week’s photo challenge, Nostalgia

“The women of today are the thoughts of their mothers and grandmothers, embodied and made alive. They are active, capable, determined and bound to win. They have one-thousand generations back of them… Millions of women dead and gone are speaking through us today.” — Matilda Joslyn Gage

Weekly Photo Challenge – Day Care Alphabet

In response to Weekly Photo Challenge – Alphabet

I cut my Human Resources Teeth in the gritty world of day care.  Too often this is a thankless, underpaid job.  Though I understand the economics of it, in reality, what happens in a day care classroom has a HUGE impact on our country’s youth.  I have the greatest respect for these men and women for tackling a job I would not have the patience to handle for more than a few hours.
Alphabet is (or should be) EVERYWHERE in a day care center.  I was always amazed at the creative ways our teachers decorated their classrooms and doors, as well as developed curriculum that would reach a relatively large group of children.  They could spin gold out of straw.
Attaching some of my favorites.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Gathering

<a href="https://dailypost.wordpress.com/photo-challenges/gathering/">Gathering</a>

Well the timing of this one couldn’t have been better!  Yesterday was our staff “Holiday Brunch & Munch” at Countryside, and we had a ball.  It’s a bit tough to get 600+ employees who work anywhere from 5:30 am – 10:00 pm, but between two servings, a stacked dessert “bake off” table and the hot cocoa bar, plenty of sugar was consumed and plenty of us will need to keep exercising.  Good thing we work in the largest YMCA in the country!
