In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Today Was a Good Day.”
I live in Cincinnati these days but I will always be a mid-Atlantic girl at heart. I grew up in metro DC and spent many a summer day digging my toes into the sand in Ocean City, MD and Fenwick Island, DE. There’s nothing quite so zen for me as that trip over the Bay Bridge into what feels like a whole new world compared to the rat race that is our nation’s capital. Luckily, my mom retired to this area back in 2000, and although it is an 11 hour drive, we still make the haul each summer. One of our favorite things to do is to pontoon around the bay side and dig for clams off Assateague Island. This year, we were blessed to have blue sky, comfortable temperatures and the presence of a school of dolphins (unusual to see in the bay!) as well as a multitude of the wild ponies that roam Assateague. We caught clams, we ate clams. It was a very good day.
