IT’S THE LAST DAY OF JULY!! How does Reuben feel about it?

DSC_0254

I agree, Reuben.  Every year I feel like summer passes us by a little faster than it did before.

Summer isn’t OFFICIALLY over yet, but camp is rounding third base and heading towards the home stretch.  And during the course of the summer, our staff have hit a LOT of home runs with the children and teens who have attended and worked here.  They understand a simple principle:
Excellence
Wondering what’s ACTUALLY been going on at camp this summer?  Check this out. I see a lot of smiles and teeth.
You may have also noticed from time to time that a blue hopscotch mat was out in the hallways.  Exactly why? Countryside has been participating in a national Y initiative to “Hop the Gap.” Get it??

While summer is an exciting time for most, it is also a time where some students experience a loss in academic skills and knowledge. Studies show that during the summer, most students lose two months of grade level math skills as well as a loss of more than two months of reading achievement.  Not only do our Summer Day Camp programs provide opportunities for our campers to be engaged physically but our Camp Directors seek out programs that will stimulate creativity and learning –  the end goal being we’ve helped each child “Hop the Gap” of summer learning loss.

See that “Back to School” notation on the left side?  How do you think the kids feel about it?

Luckily, we have a lot of Bright Spots to look forward to.  Mark your calendars for:
